Competition: A Fugitive in Florence

GIOCA E PARTECIPA AL CONCORSOThere’s an empty frame on display at Palazzo Strozzi.
The boy originally painted in it has fled.  He found it impossible to resist the lure of Florence, so he’s taken... a holiday.
If you click on www.palazzostrozzi.org and enter the section devoted to the Art and illusions exhibition, you’ll find maps and clues put together by Giuseppe Palumbo, one of Italy’s leading cartoonists, to help set you on the fugitive’s trail.
From the web to reality:  when you enter the places shown on the map, you’ll come face to face with some spectacular examples of trompe-l’œil, where the boy will point to one or more letters in a mystery word.  If you visit all of the places and successfully manage to compose an anagram using the letters you’ve collected, you’ll discover the mystery word which is the topic of the creative competition we’re running.
Once you’ve discovered the mystery word, you can give your imagination free rein and pen a written piece or design some artwork using it as your theme.  The best essays, in the view of a panel of experts, will be published on the website.  There will also be prizes for the three winning entries.  First prize is a trip to Rome to allow the winner to track down the city’s illusionistic Baroque art treasures.

Il termine per la presentazione delle domande di partecipazione è scaduto 15 January 2010
